Leszek Golec and Tatiana Czekalska. An artistic duo. They have been working together since 1996. Leszek Golec was born in 1959, he studied at Higher School of Photography in Warsaw. Tatiana Czekalska was born in 1969, she is a graduate from the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Art in Łódź. The artistic duo has taken part in numerous exhibitions, e.g. Construction in Process, Back in Lodz (1990); 5th International Istanbul Biennial (1997); Fauna, Nowyj Manież, Moscow (1999); Postindustrial Sorrow, Nassauischer Kunstverein, Wiesbaden (2000); Remastering, Art in General, New York (2002); All the creatures big and small, Zachęta, Warsaw (2010); Eyes Looking for the Head to Inhabit, MS2, Łódź (2011); Contract Killer, Atlas Sztuki, Łódź (2012); Ecce Animalia, the Museum of Sculpture, Orońsko (2014); Ecovention Europe, Museum De Domijnen, Sittard (2017). (…) in their works of art, the ethics of life, they have been devoted to, transforms into the sublime aesthetics. The aesthetics with the basic assumption: all the living creatures are considered to be works of the greatest art…. Philospohical aspects of the artistic output of Czekalska anod Golec provide a new interdisciplinary quality aimed at even the most modest manifestations of the real life. The artists are environmentally aware, seeking the harmony with the natural world is a part of all their works. The duo often draws attention to other living creatures, equal to human beings. They create space, objects, PETformances or become curators of events, where even the tiniest living creature is of highest value.
